I plan to be taking part in Somerset Art Week again this year. The venue will be the front room in my house, again, with the more 'risqué' items (and all the dollies) relegated to upstairs, for those brave enough to venture that way. Last time almost everyone ventured up the stairs, and sniggers, and occasional hoots of laughter were heard over the dolls photos. There are some ladies in the village who tell me they can never look at an ironing board in quite the same way again :-)
The 'proper' paintings will be downstairs, and I'm planning on having a slideshow on continual loop throughout the event, which will show a few step-by-step photos of my paintings being created, for anyone interested in the technical side of it. This is in fact a handy way to make use of the monster TV that my partner has installed, which pretty much cannot be shifted from the front room ever again, but I hope it may also interest people, and be a lot more informative than showing you my actual studio, which is largely much full of boxes, junk, and computers. And of course I shall be on hand to talk to people.
The venue - my house - is next to the pub, in the village of Moorlynch (or Moorlinch, on many maps), Somerset, TA7 9BT. Sadly road signs might be in reduced numbers this year on account of bloody stupid government legislation, but that's another story...
For a map of the place click here, but please note that the venue is actually just at the start of Pit Hill Lane, next to the pub, and not half way down as suggested by the postcode area, and also that Pit Hill Lane is not signposted in real life!

past exhibitions...

Here's a selected list of exhibitions I've done in the past - again, only the dolls stuff here - see my paintings site for the other exhibitions.

'Hell and High Tea' - Solo Exhibition in Gallery Eight, Glastonbury, UK

Tuesday June 3rd - Saturday June 15th 2008
This was mainly an exhibition of my painted artwork, which can be seen at www.nancyfarmer.net, but I also had a wall of the dollies...

'Ooh La La' - Burlesque Inspired Art

'View From The Top' gallery, Bridlesmith Gate, Nottingham NG1 2GR

March 20th - 26th 2007

I will be taking up some of the Fetishdollies photographs to this exhibition. The exhibition promises to be a mixture of "fine art, photography, illustration, fashion design, corsetry, millinery, lingerie, costumes, nipple tassels, jewellery, glassware, gifts and much much more". You can visit the exhibition website at www.oohlala-art.co.uk

Somerset Arts Week – September 2006

An experiment here - but a successful one - how to turn your front room into a gallery... This was the first time I'd held an exhibition in my own home. Below is the transformation from lounge to gallery... most of this took a day, and then there was another 4 days of fiddling around, making notices, prices and re-arranging it all... turns out the disadvantage of having 5 days to set up an exhibition (a hitherto unheard of luxury) is that it takes 5 days to set up an exhibition....

Lounge minus sofas, but with all the mess still there:

Mess gone... as if by magic - a third of the room is hiding behind the sheet, with all the mess in it - turns out wooden beams are superb for this:

My gallery :-)

Somerset Art Week

All very pleasing and neat - I had had this as a plan for the last year and a half but never got a chance to test the theory before. There was even an upstairs 'gallery' in the corridor with all the Fetishdollies photographs in it - and a 'polite warning' before one went up... Occasional hoots of laughter were heard from upstairs, 'the stuff of dreams' said one visitor, glassy eyed... But the main exhibition was the paintings. Thanks to all who came, particularly on the night of the preview when Tony did such a fab job of keeping everyone supplied with wine. Having discovered a gallery in my own house I may use it again, before next Somerset Art Week comes round again in two year's time...

'Dollies & Divas' - exhibition at La Viande, London, May 2006

Photos by Bobette, featured on the London Fetish Scene website, here.

This was an exhibition featuring the paintings of Georgie Tier and my Fetishdollies photographs, and even a few of the dolls themselves.
Special Late night opening on Wednesday 17th May, featured an Alternative Cabaret by the one and only Empress Stah - see the photo above - she would be the lady in gold...
Many thanks especially to Georgie, Stah (who did the caberet), Ellen (who has such a great gallery) and everyone who came along and supported us.

Erotica – London (Olympia), November 2005

I had a three metre wide display in the Art Gallery section, largely of original paintings and drawings, with a handfull of the dolls photographs, too. Sadly the fee for a stand at this exhibition has gone up so much for next year I don't think I will be exhibiting here again.

Brighton Fringe Arts Production – “Erotica Exhibition” – April to May 2005

There were no photos involved here, instead the Fetish Dollies themselves were invited to take part…

Bridgwater Arts Centre – “Mad-Eyed Kings and Coffee Breaks in Hell” – Somerset, April 2005

Joint exhibition with Lucy Hinds. I mostly had paintings on display here, though we found a suitably dimly-lit corridor where the dolls could exist in their own seedy little enclave…

Erotica … London (Olympia), November 2004, 2005

I had a two metre wide display in the Art Gallery section, with a selection of prints of both the paintings and the dolls photographs. The dolls themselves draped themselves decoratively around the stand and generally drew attention to themselves...

The Skin Two Expo - London (Barbican Centre), October 2004, 2005

One exhibition where the visitors vie for attention with the exhibits… This was a combination of my most fetishy paintings and the Fetish dollies. For the 2005 exhibition I built a wall-hung cage from which the dolls could view the visitors (from the comfort of their own doll-sized sofa).

newsletter and mailing list…

If you want to be kept informed of exhibitions and new work, I have an emailing list that I use to mail the occasional newsletter. This covers both the dolls pictures and my painted artwork, and I keep the pictures on this very low-key – my work covers a range of styles and not everyone appreciates the dolls! If you’d like to be added to this list please e-mail me – I won't pass on your address to anyone else.
